Jennifer Menchavez,  Trauma Counselor Intern

Jennifer is a Trauma Counselor Intern who began as an Advocacy Intern here at NWCASA. She is currently receiving her undergraduate degree in Social Work at Northeastern Illinois University with a minor in Psychology. As a survivor herself and a woman of color, it was important she found an organization that prioritized survivor-centered care and promoted a climate of diversity and inclusion, which led to her decision in choosing NWCASA to obtain her growing field experience. Jennifer is a McNair Scholar with hopes to continue providing support to survivors and their communities as well as conduct research that improves social policy and interventions surrounding sexual violence. When she is not fulfilling internship and academic roles, she enjoys spending time with family, dancing to her favorite music, and/or fulfilling her guilty pleasure of reality tv shows.
