On October 4th, 2015 Chief Eddington along with members of the Evanston Police Department, will be taking part in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ® walk event hosted by Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault.  Chief Eddington will be on hand to talk about the importance of awareness for such a cause.   Sexual assault and sexual abuse are problems that plague society and only 30% are actually reported to police. EPD understands the detrimental effect these crimes have on individuals, families, and the community as a whole.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ® is an event that aims to raise awareness of sexual assault and sexual abuse, and those affected by such heinous acts.  The walk is designed to have men walk in women’s’ heels as a way to bring attention and raise awareness.  Although a fun and empowering event the real focus is the many survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse.

Northwest CASA is a local non-profit with offices in the, Civic Center, that provides free services to sexual assault/abuse survivors and their families. The walk is being hosted in an effort to raise funds so that quality services can continue to be provided to all that are in need. For more information about the event please see the link below.
